Corporate Social Responsibility is MEA's core advocacy. At the very heart of all of MEA's projects and aims, we strive to live by the principles of CSR. We work not only to ensure that each and every department follows these principles, but that MEAns themselves, as well as other members of the Loyola Schools community, as well as society at large is made to become more aware of and involved in the CSR movement.

The Corporate Social Responsibility Program has evolved into the Office of Corporate Social Responsibility to recognized its combined role in advocating CSR, and monitoring CSR within the organization itself. The OCSR has the following projects for this year:

Slate Magazine

Slate is the first and currently the only Corporate Social Responsibility magazine in the Philippines dedicated to the youth.
It is MEA's primary effort in reaching out to its members, to the LS community and to society at large.
In its first year of release, it was recognized as the Loyola Schools Best Project of the Year.
This school year, MEA plans to release the third issue of Slate, geared towards promoting the cause of CSR even further, with the aim of encouraging individuals and institutions to do even more--not merely giving a shopping list of CSR activities. MEA hopes to align this with the Ateneo sesqui's theme of Nation-Building.
The targeted release is January 2010.

CSR Symposium Committee/Modules

The primary objective of this activity is to make the concept of CSR palatable for the different sectors of the youth. Within MEA, this involves the creation of modules on CSR which cater to the different batches, which ensure that members are exposed to the different aspects of CSR based on their levels of interest and understanding. On a broader scale, the CSR Symposium, which will be open to the LS community, will tackle aspects of CSR relevant to the current times.

The Good Campaign

As business students we recognize the value and power of marketing in communicating an idea. Social marketing, in particular, involves the application of different marketing techniques and principles in order to change or modify society's behavior in order to achieve a social good. This year, we want to be involved in promoting CSR beyond the methods we have employed in the past.
The team's main task for the first semester is to make comprehensive market research about CSR that will help CSR efforts to better their efficacy and reach.

Using tools such as Operations Research and Corporate Decision Management, this department aims to provide recommendations and solutions to problems in the Loyala Schools, such as queueing in the cafeteria, lack of parking spaces, et al. For this school year, the department seeks to develop a recommendation for at least one of the said problems. The department will utilize MEA's core competency as a means of giving back to the LS community.
